I like the article but have a couple of questions that maybe you can comment back on. I have been working to establish my own legitimate website. Because this is a grassroots effort most of my content is generated by me in my free time. I would like to use some rss feeds to add additionall content to my site. The feeds would only display a summary of the article and would require the user to navigate to the feed source to view the entire article. Is this a misuse of the rss feeds? It seems like it would be a mutually beneficial use of the feed system by helping to create content changes on my site more regularly and also generate traffic to the rss feed site.

I agree, the downside of not allowing the photos/videos to be indexed on their own is a hit to traffic building; but it also increases the likelihood of someone leaching the content from my site. Stealing it is bad enough, but using the bandwidth I pay for to do it is even worse.

I've tried to make the pages this content sits in more visible and SEO friendly. Time will tell how well this will work.

Thank you for commenting.

I like the article but I think you SHOULD index your videos and pictures and search directories. People encourage you to do that so you can get more traffic to your site. You never know what people are looking for and a picture or video could lead them to your site.
