Interesting article Jay. I don’t mind giving up some convenience or level of privacy for effective security. The key word being effective. As you point out, the keystone cops knee jerk reaction to events like this is ludicrous, maddening and ultimately counterproductive in that it makes people less confident in the measure meant to protect them.
